Copy to Any Functional Location
Copy assets to any functional location when no parent asset is selected
Introduction
You can copy an asset to a different functional location when using the Copy asset structure dialog. The Functional location field becomes editable when a parent asset is not selected in the dialog. This allows you to choose a different functional location for the copied asset. If a parent asset is selected, the Functional location field is not editable because the copied asset must be installed under the same functional location as the selected parent asset.

Copy an Asset to a Different Functional Location
To copy an asset to a different functional location:
- Go to Asset management > Assets > All assets.
- On the All assets page, from the list of assets, select the asset that you want to copy.
- On the Asset details page, from the top menu, go to Asset > New, and select Copy asset.
- On the Copy asset structure dialog (see screenshot 01):
- Copy from: This will be the source asset from which the asset structure must be copied.
- Copy to: This will be the destination asset, to which the asset structure must be copied.
- Parent asset: This will display the parent asset of the newly copied asset. To copy an asset to a different functional location, leave the Asset field blank.
- When Asset under Parent asset is not selected, the Functional location field becomes editable, and you can select a different functional location for the copied asset.
- When Asset under Parent asset is selected, the Functional location field is not editable because the copied asset will use the same functional location as the selected parent asset.
- Functional location: Select a Functional location to which the asset must be copied if applicable.
- Complete the remaining fields as required.
- Click OK to create the copied asset.
