You can use work order pools to group work orders that share common characteristics. These pools can be based on factors like teams, skills, locations, or time periods. A single work order can be assigned to multiple pools as needed.
Work order pools are a standard functionality of Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management. You can read the complete documentation about this at Work order pools - Supply Chain Management | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn.
In this document, we will look at enhancements to the Work order pools functionality, available in AAM.
For work order pools, the following has been added:
The Delete lifecycle state is a standard field in Dynamics 365. You can now view this in the main grid of work order pool page.
This field defines which work order lifecycle state should trigger the automatic removal of a work order from a pool. For example, when a work order reaches a certain lifecycle state (like "Released", "Completed", etc.), it gets removed from the pool, based on your configuration.
Note that this option works together with the field called Delete work order relations (see screenshot 01).
Example:
On a work order pool you can now set up an Expected start and Expected end date. When a pool is added to a work order, these values are copied to the work order’s expected start and end fields.
The Days field shows the duration of the work order pool, calculated based on the expected dates.
Note:
You can now access all related maintenance jobs from the work orders in a work order pool. This makes it easier to review and update the jobs so they are ready to proceed.
To use this option, go to the Work order pool details page. From the top menu, select Work order pool > View work order pool related, and click on All work order maintenance jobs.
