Introduction
Work order alerts are used to check for overdue work orders based on expected start, expected end, scheduled start, or scheduled end selected on the work orders.
You can manually run a job to check for scheduled alerts, or you can create one or more batch jobs for the purpose.

The Work order alerts functionality in Enterprise asset management requires specific setup regarding license configuration.
When license and security configurations are set up, data entities for work order alerts are automatically updated in the Data management framework in D365FO.
- Select System administration > Setup > License configuration.
- Select Dynaway Advanced EAM.
- Ensure that the Work order alerts check box is selected.
In D365FO, the EAM Maintenance manager role must include the following setup.
- Select System administration > Security > Security configuration.
- Select role: EAM Maintenance manager.
- Select duty: Maintain work orders.
- The privilege Maintain work order alert registrations must be added.
You can set up work order alerts to be triggered by different information on a work order, for example, work order type, functional location, object type, or a specific object ID.
Alerts can be used to check for overdue work orders based on expected start, expected end, scheduled start, or scheduled end selected on the work orders.
- Select Enterprise asset management > Setup > Work orders > Work order alerts.
- On the Work order alerts screen > the Alerts section, select Add.
- Ensure that a checkmark is inserted in the Active check box on the new line.
- Enter an ID in the Work order alert field and a name in the Name field.
- In the drop-down lists next to the Name field, make your selections in one or more lists, depending on how specific you want the alert to be.
- You can specify responsible worker group, responsible worker, planner group, and planner worker in the associated columns.
- In the Overdue field, enter number of hours that a work order should be overdue before it triggers an alert message. This value is measured against your selection in the From field.
- In the From field, select the date that used to calculate when an alert should be triggered.
- In the Message section, write the message to be shown on the alert.
- Above the Message section, you see a list of placeholders that you can add to your message as you require.
- In the Contacts section, add the emails of the workers who should receive the alert message.
- Save the setup.

When you've set up work order alerts, next step is to run a job that checks for scheduled alerts.
- Select Enterprise asset management > Periodic > Work orders > Schedule work order alert check.
- Select OK to run the job. When the job is completed, a message is shown in the Action center.
- If required, you can set up a batch job to automatically check work order alerts at a regular interval.
- In the Schedule work order alert check dialog > Run in the background section, select "Yes" on the Batch processing toggle button.
- Fill out more fields as you require.
- You can set up multiple batch jobs, depending on how often the job should be run. Example: Some alerts can be checked once a day, others can be checked every hour.

You can get an overview of registered alerts in the Work order alert registrations list. Work order alerts an be active or inactive, as described in the article Set up work order alerts. In this list, you only see registrations from active alerts.
- Select Enterprise asset management > Inquiries > Work orders > Work order alert registrations.
- One registration line is shown for each work order line.
- Select a registration line to see the related message in the Messages section.
