Serial No. Transfer from Item Consumption to Asset

When an item with Serial No. item tracking and Create Asset on Consumption enabled is consumed on a Work Order, the Serial Number is now correctly transferred to each newly created child asset. A new Assigned Serial Nos. field has been added to the Work Order Item Lines page. It shows the count of serial numbers assigned via item tracking for that line. Clicking the field opens the Item Tracking Lines.

How It Works

1. On the Item Card, ensure Create Asset on Consumption is enabled (Maintenance group) and an Asset Template is selected.
2. The item must have Serial No. tracking enabled.
3. Add the item to a Work Order with a quantity greater than 1.
4. Assign serial numbers via Item Tracking Lines. The new Assigned Serial Nos. field on the item line shows the number currently assigned.
5. Post the consumption.

The system creates one child asset per serial number in the tracking lines. Each asset receives its specific serial number on the Asset Card.

How It Does NOT Work
