Change Asset Type

Change asset type on one or more assets

Introduction

This functionality allows maintenance managers and clerks to change the asset type for multiple selected assets.

Change Asset Type

Setup

  1. Go to System administration > Setup > License configuration.
  2. From License Configuration, enable the configuration key Dynaway Data Manipulation Toolbox.

Changing Asset Type

Change the asset type by going to:

  1. Asset management > Assets > All assets and select the asset(s) which type you want to change.
  2. Go to General > Asset details > Change asset type and choose the new asset type from the drop-down menu.
  3. Click OK to save your changes.

After saving your changes, the following is validated:

  • Lifecycle state of the selected assets must be included in the Lifecycle model of the new asset type.

Information is shown if:

  • Default criticality is changed.
  • Default service level is changed.
  • Maintenance plans or rounds set up on Functional location will no longer include the asset.
  • New maintenance plans or rounds set up on Functional location will include the asset.

A warning is shown if:

  • There is a mismatch between the asset type on the model and the new asset type.
  • There are job types on maintenance plans associated with the asset which are not supported.
  • There are active requests with a job type which are not supported.

Any additional attributes set up on the new asset types will be automatically added to the asset. The asset event history will include an entry denoting the change of asset type.
