Introduction
You can rename the asset identifiers using the Rename assets functionality.
- Prerequisites
Before you proceed to rename the asset identifiers, ensure that the following setups are completed:
- License
- Dynaway Data Manipulation Toolbox (DynDMT) must be imported.
- Configuration Key
- Enabled: Dynaway Data Manipulation Toolbox (DynDMT).
- Security Role: You must have one of these roles:
- Maintenance Manager.
- Maintenance Clerk.
Note:
- To identify the AOT elements related to this functionality, the elements are prefixed with "DynAAMObjectIdRename" string.
To rename the asset identifier,
- Go to Asset management > Periodic > Assets > Rename assets.
- On the Rename assets dialog (see screenshot 01), enter the parameters for search based on the characters with which the asset identifier begins. Enter the values in Begins with field.
- On entering the values, the Assets found field will populate the number of assets that match the criteria.
- In the Set prefix field enter the value to rename the asset identifier and click on the OK button.
- Example (see screenshot 01): In the Begin with field, if you search for assets that begin with 'rename', and in the Set prefix field you enter 'test-' and click the OK button, then all asset identifiers that begin with 'rename' with now begin with 'test-rename'. For example, an asset identifier 'rename1' will become 'test-rename1'.
Note:
- There is a validation in the system to check if the new name (renamed identifier) of an asset is within the allowed character limit.
- If a record fails the validation, it will be skipped during the identifier rename operation.
