Introduction
Asset Downtime functionality in Dynaway EAM enables organizations to record, track, and analyze periods when assets are not operational. This supports maintenance planning, production management, and continuous improvement.
Asset Downtime is any period when an asset is unavailable due to failure, maintenance, or other reasons. Recording downtime helps organizations understand asset reliability, identify bottlenecks, and optimize maintenance schedules.
Key Features
- Register downtime events for any asset
- Track starting and ending date-time, duration, and reason
- Link downtime to production (e.g., production on hold)
- Analyze downtime by category, priority, and status
- View downtime history and trends on asset cards and overview pages
- Integrate downtime management with scheduling and production modules
-
Go to the Register Downtime page in Business Central. Downtime can be created from:
- The asset card (for direct asset downtime registration)
- Asset List (select one or multiple assets and register downtime for selected)
- Asset Tree (visualize asset hierarchy and register downtime for any node)
- Work orders (when downtime is identified during maintenance)
- Defect records (if a defect triggers downtime)
- Production modules (when production is on hold due to asset issues)
- Maintenance Requests (register downtime directly from a maintenance request when asset unavailability is reported)
-
Select the asset and enter downtime details:
- Asset No.: The asset affected by downtime
- Asset Description: Description of the asset
- Starting Date-Time: When downtime started
- Ending Date-Time: When downtime ended
- Outside Business Hours: Indicates if downtime occurred outside normal hours
- Priority Code: Downtime priority (e.g., High, Medium, Low)
- Category Code: Downtime category (e.g., mechanical, electrical)
- Description: Detailed description of the downtime event
- Status: Current status of the downtime (e.g., Open, Closed)
- Closed: Indicates if the downtime entry is closed
- Related Work: Linked work orders or maintenance actions
-
If the asset is connected to production, enable the Production on Hold option.
- Use the Create Work Order action to generate a maintenance work order directly from the downtime entry, ensuring prompt resolution.
- Save the downtime record and update its status as needed. Use available status codes to track progress and closure.
Tip: Use the downtime entry card to view all details, link related work, and access history, failures, and maintenance logs for comprehensive downtime management.
- Use downtime categories and priorities to classify events for reporting and analysis.
- View downtime history and trends to identify recurring issues and improve asset reliability.
- Integrate downtime data with scheduling boards and production management for real-time visibility.
