Fixed Assets Relation

Introduction

Dynaway EAM integrates maintenance assets with Business Central Fixed Assets, enabling organizations to link operational and financial asset management. This integration supports asset creation, maintenance tracking, and capitalization of costs.

Linking Maintenance Assets to Fixed Assets

  • Maintenance assets can be created directly from fixed assets using the Create Maintenance Asset action on the Fixed Asset Card.
  • To be able to create the Asset from the Fixed Asset Card you need to create the Asset Template
  • Linked assets allow you to track maintenance activities, work orders, and costs for each fixed asset.
  • The relationship is visible on both the maintenance asset card and the fixed asset card, supporting easy navigation and reporting.

Viewing Maintenance Data on Fixed Assets

  • The Fixed Asset Card includes a Maintenance FactBox, showing related maintenance assets and work order history.
  • Users can view work order ledger entries and maintenance statistics for each fixed asset.

Capitalization Functionality

Dynaway EAM supports capitalization of maintenance costs to fixed assets, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance.

How Capitalization Works

  • Maintenance costs from work orders can be transferred to fixed asset journals for capitalization.
  • Each work order includes a Capitalization field, allowing users to mark the entire work order for capitalization.
  • Additionally, each work order line has its own Capitalization field, so users can select which specific costs or lines should be capitalized to the fixed asset.
  • Use the Get Capitalization Lines action on the Fixed Asset Journal or Fixed Asset G/L Journal to create capitalization lines from work order ledger entries.
  • Capitalization lines include asset numbers, parent set IDs, and cost details, ready for posting to the general ledger.
