Integration with Manufacturing

Introduction

Dynaway EAM offers seamless integration with the standard Manufacturing module in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. This integration enables organizations to connect maintenance and production processes, improving asset reliability, production efficiency, and visibility across departments.

Overview

Manufacturing integration allows maintenance teams to:

  • Link assets and work orders to production resources (work centers, machine centers)
  • Register and manage downtime directly from production orders
  • Hold or release production based on asset condition or maintenance needs
  • Analyze the impact of maintenance on production schedules and costs
  • Use maintenance requests and work orders in the context of manufacturing

Key Features

  • Work Center and Machine Center Integration: Maintenance assets can be linked to work centers and machine centers, supporting direct maintenance actions on production resources.
  • Downtime Management: Register downtime from production orders, work centers, or machine centers. Downtime can trigger production holds and impact scheduling.
  • Production Hold: Maintenance can place production on hold for specific assets or resources, ensuring safety and compliance during repairs.
  • Maintenance Requests: Create and manage maintenance requests from the manufacturing environment, linking them to production resources and schedules.
  • Work Order Planning: Maintenance work orders can be planned and scheduled in coordination with production orders, minimizing disruption.
  • Reporting and Analysis: View downtime, maintenance history, and work order impact on production performance. Analyze trends to optimize asset reliability and production throughput.
  • Work Center Absence: Create and manage absences for work centers directly from the manufacturing environment. Absence records help track periods when a work center is unavailable due to maintenance, holidays, or other reasons, supporting accurate production planning and resource allocation.

Step-by-Step User Manual for Manufacturing Integration

  1. Enable Manufacturing Integration

    • Go to Dynaway EAM setup in Business Central.
    • Enable the manufacturing integration feature.
  2. Link Assets to Production Resources

    • Open the asset card for the asset you want to link.
    • Use the actions to link the asset to a work center or machine center.
    • Save your changes.
  3. Register Downtime from Manufacturing

    • From a production order, work center, or machine center card, select the option to register downtime.
    • Enter downtime details (asset, start/end time, reason, etc.).
    • Save the downtime entry. The downtime is now linked to both the asset and the production resource.
  4. Create Work Center Absence

    • When downtime is registered for a work center, an absence record is automatically created for the specified period.
    • You can also manually create absences on the work center card if needed.
    • Enter absence details (dates, reason, comments).
    • Save the absence record. The work center will be marked as unavailable for the specified period.
  5. Hold and Release Production

    • When maintenance is required, use the production hold feature to pause production for the affected asset or resource.
    • Complete maintenance activities and release production when ready.
  6. Create Maintenance Requests and Work Orders

    • From the manufacturing environment, create maintenance requests linked to production resources.
    • Plan and execute work orders, coordinating with production schedules to minimize disruption.
  7. Register Counters and Measurements

    • Enter counter readings and measurements from production orders, resource cards, or measurement pages.
    • Use this data to trigger maintenance, monitor asset health, and support predictive maintenance.
  8. Analyze and Report

    • Use dashboards, reports, and scheduling boards to view downtime, maintenance costs, production impact, and resource availability.
    • Filter and analyze data by asset, work center, machine center, or time period.

Tip: Follow these steps to ensure smooth integration between maintenance and manufacturing, improving asset reliability and production efficiency.

Registering Counters and Measurements in Manufacturing

Dynaway EAM allows users to register counters and measurements directly from the manufacturing environment. This feature supports proactive maintenance and condition monitoring for production assets.

  • Counters track usage metrics such as operating hours, cycles, or units produced for work centers and machine centers.
  • Measurements record values like temperature, pressure, vibration, or other asset health indicators.
  • Users can enter counter readings and measurements from production orders, resource cards, or dedicated measurement pages.
  • Registered data is used to trigger maintenance work orders, analyze asset performance, and support predictive maintenance strategies.
