Using Copilot during setup

Microsoft Copilot is integrated throughout the Assisted Setup Wizard to provide intelligent assistance and recommendations based on your organization's needs and industry best practices.

How to use Copilot during setup

  1. Enable Copilot assistance - Ensure Copilot is enabled in your Business Central environment
  2. Look for Copilot suggestions - Copilot recommendations appear as contextual help throughout the wizard
  3. Review and apply recommendations - Evaluate Copilot suggestions and apply those that fit your needs
  4. Ask for specific guidance - Use the Copilot chat feature to ask specific questions about setup decisions

  • Category optimization – AI-powered analysis suggests the most effective asset categories based on your industry and organizational structure
  • Status setup – Copilot recommends asset statuses and maintenance statuses tailored to your business type and operational needs
  • Condition setup – Intelligent suggestions for asset condition codes to support lifecycle management and preventive maintenance
  • Attribute setup – Copilot helps define relevant asset attributes for tracking technical specifications, compliance, and reporting
  • Location setup – Recommendations for structuring asset locations, including hierarchy and naming conventions for multi-site organizations
  • Downtime category setup – AI-powered guidance for downtime categories to support incident tracking and root cause analysis

[!TIP] If you do not want to use Copilot, select an industry template to automatically applies relevant defaults for asset types, categories, statuses, conditions, and maintenance frequencies common to your sector.

2. Document Storage Setup

Choose where to store maintenance-related documents and attachments.

Storage options:

  • Embedded (Business Central Internal Storage) - Documents stored within the BC database
  • SharePoint integration - Documents stored in SharePoint Online
  • Azure Blob Storage - Documents stored in Azure Blob Storage

Choose your industry template:

Basic configurations:

  • Work order numbering series - you can use the Set up default No. Series option to use the Serial No. provided by Dynaway

  • Category setup – Intelligent recommendations for maintenance categories and codes that align with your equipment and maintenance plans
  • Counter category setup – Copilot helps define counter categories for usage tracking, preventive maintenance, and performance analysis
  • Measurement setup – AI-powered guidance for measurement categories, threshold definitions, and integration with maintenance schedules
