What Is the Audit Trail?

The audit trail is a chronological, tamper-evident record of user actions, data changes, and system events. It enables organizations to:

  • Improve operational transparency and accountability

Setting Up the Audit Trail

1. Accessing Audit Trail Setup

  1. In Business Central, search for and open Audit Trail Setup.
  2. Select the entities and activities you want to track (e.g., assets, work orders, maintenance requests).
  3. Configure retention policies to determine how long audit data is stored.
  4. Set access permissions to control who can view and manage audit trail data.
  5. Save your settings to activate audit trail tracking.

2. Customizing Audit Trail Tracking

  • You can choose which tables and fields are included in the audit trail.
  • Enable or disable tracking for specific business processes as needed.
  • Adjust retention and access settings at any time to meet compliance requirements.

Using the Audit Trail

1. Reviewing Audit Trail Records

  1. Go to Audit Trail Log in Dynaway EAM.
  2. Use filters to search by date, user, entity, or activity type.
  3. Click on a record to view detailed information, including before and after values for each change.

2. Exporting and Reporting

  • Export audit trail logs to Excel or other formats for further analysis or sharing with auditors.
  • Generate summary reports to review activities and changes over selected periods.
