Working with Power BI

Introduction

After downloading and installing the app Dynaway EAM Analytics for Business Central from Microsoft AppSource, you can check out the sample data and get familiar with the report's possibilities.

Connect Your Own Data

When you're ready to use the report with your own data, select Connect your data, and provide the information in the dialog.

In the dialog, fill in the following parameters:

  • Set Business Central Environment – Enter the name of your Business Central Environment.
  • Set Business Central Company – Enter the name of your Business Central Company.
  • Set Time Zone – Select your time zone.
  • Click Next.

You're now asked to sign in to connect your data.

After signing in, your data will be updated in the tables.

Your data is now connected and shown in the tables. Read more here about what insights you can view for Assets and Work Orders.

Asset Data in Power BI

Introduction

Dynaway EAM Analytics for Business Central Power BI report enables you to enhance data-driven decision making in maintenance and asset management. Access comprehensive reporting and detailed analytics on assets, defects, downtimes, work orders, and costs, utilizing data from Dynaway EAM for Business Central.

In the Assets menu, you can easily overview and analyze your assets' data at a glance or go into specific details. You can click every data point to inspect it.


Assets Overview

On the Assets Overview page, you can get an overview of general information about your assets:

  • How many assets exist within a specific category
  • How many work orders (by type) are planned in your company
  • How many assets are in your database with specific conditions and statuses
  • How many assets are active or critical

Defects

On the Asset Defects page, you can analyze defects registered in your company. You can:

  • Check the list of all defects
  • Check when defects were registered
  • Analyze on which day defects are usually registered/solved
  • See the typical source of a defect
  • View the average duration time of the defect (time calculated with solved time and registered time)

Downtimes

On the Asset Downtimes page, you can analyze asset downtimes registered in your company. You can:

  • See the list of all downtimes
  • Analyze on which day downtimes are usually created/started/ended
  • Analyze defects by priority or category
  • Analyze sources of downtime
  • Check which downtime categories are related to an existing work order
  • Check how many hours before the downtime is usually registered
  • View the average duration of the downtime

Locations

On the Asset Locations page, you can analyze assets by their location, category, and status. You can:

  • Check the number (on specific asset location) of:
    • Assets
    • Active/solved defects
    • Work order plans
    • Work orders
    • Open/closed downtimes
  • Check the number of outgoing/incoming asset transfers

Maps

If you're using GPS coordinates on your Assets and Asset Location, you can check your data placed on the map on the Maps page. From here, you can:

  • Check where assets are located
  • See how many assets are on the specific asset location*
  • View how many work orders are on the specific asset location*
  • See how many open defects are on the specific asset location*
  • View how many open downtimes are on the specific asset location*

*The size of the bubbles depends on the number of records.


Costs

In the Costs page, you can see all costs on assets in total and divided into different data points. You can analyze all costs of your assets. The data is taken from the Work Order Ledger Entry table.

On the page you can see the following:

  • In the top right corner you can change the Posting Date to view costs from a specific time period
  • In the table you can overview your costs based on Asset Category and the Maintenance Type
  • Analyze costs by Asset Category, Location, or Work Type used on the resource line

Work Order Data in Power BI

Introduction

In the Work Order menu, you can easily overview and analyze your work orders' data at a glance or go into specific details. You can click every data point to inspect it.


Work Order Plans Overview

On the Work Order Plans Overview page, you can analyze your work order plans. You can:

  • View Work Order Plans by Asset type
  • Check Work Order Plans by Status, for instance how many are 'released' and 'closed'
  • View how many Work Order Plans you have in each Work Order Category
  • See the number of Work Order Plans by Priority
  • View which Resources are scheduled to Work Orders and inspect which Work Orders they're scheduled to
  • View the name and number of Item Lines
  • Check number of records for each Expense No.
  • See the number of Resource Lines by Work Type
  • Check Expenses by Vendor to see how many records exist for each vendor

Work Orders Overview

On the Work Orders Overview page, you can analyze your work orders. You can:

  • View the number of work orders with specific categories
  • Check when work orders are happening
  • View typical frequencies
  • See current statuses of work orders

Costs Overview

In the All Costs Overview you can view all costs related to work orders, including Expenses, Items, and Resources.

On the page you can view the following details:

  • In the top right corner you can change the Posting Date to view costs from a specific time period
  • View a graph of Preventive and Corrective Costs by Date
  • See the number of preventive and corrective work orders
  • Inspect Costs by Work Order Frequency Type
  • View Costs based on Work Order Categories
  • Check Costs based on Asset Categories
  • Overview Ledger Entry Details

Resource Consumption

On the Resource Consumption page, you can get an overview of how you're using your resources.

From here, you can see the following information:

  • In the top right corner you can change the Posting Date to view Resource data from a specific time period
  • Overview your Planned Quantity and Consumed Quantity by Date in a graph
  • Overview your Quantity by Maintenance Type by Date in a graph
  • See your preventive and corrective consumption as well as your total Resource quantity consumed
  • Inspect the Resource quantity consumed by Work Type, Resource, Resource Group, Asset Category, Work Order Frequency, and Work Order Category
  • View Work Order Ledger Entry Details
  • See the percentage of the consumed quantity for resources and groups at the bottom of the page

Resource Costs

Get an overview of all your costs related to resources on the Resource Costs page. From this page, you can:

  • Change the Posting Date in the top right corner to view costs from a specific time period
  • View Preventive and Corrective Costs by Date in a graph
  • View Costs by Maintenance Type such as preventive and corrective as well as the total amount of resource costs
  • Inspect all of your costs by Work Type, Resource, Resource Group, Asset Category, Work Order Frequency, and Work Order Category
  • Overview Work Order Ledger Entry Details
  • See the percentage of resource costs for resources and groups at the bottom of the page

Item Costs

On the Item Costs page, you can view all details related to your Item Costs.

On the page you can see the following data:

  • In the top right corner you can change the Posting Date to view costs from a specific time period
  • Use the graph to get an overview of Preventive and Corrective Costs by Date
  • See Costs by Maintenance Type - corrective and preventive as well as the total number of Item Costs
  • Inspect Costs by Item, Item Category, Asset Category, Work Order Frequency, and Work Order Category
  • See the percentage of item costs for item and spare parts at the bottom of the page

Expense Costs

On the Expense Costs page, you can analyze your costs of expenses.

  • In the top right corner you can change the Posting Date to view costs from a specific time period
  • Overview Preventive and Corrective Costs by Date in a graph
  • View Costs by Maintenance Type - such as corrective and preventive, as well as the total amount of Expense Costs
  • Inspect Expense Costs by Vendor, Expense, Expense Type, Asset Category, Work Order Frequency, and Work Order Category
  • See the percentage of expense costs for contractors and vendors at the bottom of the page
