This article explains how to set up the Asset Activity Board in Dynaway EAM for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. The Asset Activity Board provides a visual overview of all asset-related activities, including Work Orders, Downtimes, Asset Transfers, Maintenance Logs, and Production Orders, helping you plan and monitor asset operations efficiently.
Introduction
The Asset Activity Board displays activities for your assets happening today and in the weeks ahead. You can customize the board to show the data most relevant to your organization and users.
Overview
The Asset Activity Board setup includes both general and user-specific configuration options:
- General Setup: Applied to all users; controls default data, colors, and filters.
- User-Specific Setup: Applied to individual users; allows personal customization of board view, time periods, filters, and visible objects.
Set Up Users and Permissions
All users set up as maintenance employees have access to the Asset Activity Board. To restrict access:
- Go to Maintenance Employees from the search bar.
- In the 'Scheduling Board Read Only' tab, check the box for users/groups who should have read-only access.
Permission Sets: - DAM EAM SCHEDULER: Users can edit the board. - DAM EAM S.BOARD READ: Users can view the board in read-only mode.
General Asset Activity Board Setup
General setup is applied to all users and can be changed at any time. Access the Asset Activity Board Setup page from the search bar.
Labels and Tooltips
Customize labels and tooltips for: - Assets - Work Orders & Simulations - Downtimes & Simulations - Asset Transfers (labels not available) - Maintenance Logs - Production Orders
Each object has its own legend for setup. Enter values in the fields to the right to display on the board. To restore defaults, select Home > Restore Defaults.
Set Up Colors
Visualize asset activity by customizing colors: - Go to the 'Set up Colors' tab on Asset Activity Board Setup. - Select the object (e.g., Work Orders) and status to assign colors. - Click the color field and choose from the drop-down. - Repeat for other statuses as needed.
Manage and Create Filters
Filters help you focus on specific data:
- Select Filters from the toolbar to manage saved filters.
- Shared filters can be enabled/disabled for other users.
- Each filter applies to one board type.
On the Asset Activity Board, you can:
- Apply Filter: Use a saved filter to customize the board view.
- Create Filter: Build a new filter, fill out the form, and save it.
- Save Filter: Enter a description and save the current filter.
- Clear Filter: Remove the applied filter and start over.

Accessing User Setup
- Open the Asset Activity Board from the Asset Manager role center or via the search bar.
- Select User Setup from the reload toolbar to open the user configuration page.
- Use personalization (cogwheel > Personalize > + Field) to add more options and fields to the setup tabs.
Board Setup
In the Setup tab, users can:
- Specify the date range or time period for displayed activities (toggle between using dates or number of days).
- Apply a default filter to be used every time the board is opened.
- Toggle visibility of symbols and Work Orders.
- Use personalization to add more fields and objects to the board view.
Managing Filters
- Apply a default filter by selecting it in the Default Filter field.
- View, edit, share, or delete saved filters via Related > User Filters.
- Remove a default filter via Related > Remove Default Filter.

Users can personalize which objects are shown on the board:
- Work Order Simulations
- Asset Downtimes and Downtime Simulations

Assets Tab
Configure how assets are displayed:
- Group assets by None, Parent, Location, Status, Condition, or Category
- Set asset color by Condition, Status, Category, or Location
- Use personalization to add fields such as Show Empty Group, Groups Collapsed, Show Groups Only
Work Orders Tab
Customize Work Order and simulation display:
- Set color by Status, Advanced Status, Category, Frequency Type, or Maintenance Type
- Specify default color for Work Orders and simulations
- Toggle line captions (Original Planned Date/Latest Finish Date)
- Show/hide lines for planned dates and highlight scopes when moving blocks
- Use personalization to add fields for visibility on groups, line colors, and captions
Asset Downtimes Tab
Configure downtime display:

- Show/hide closed downtimes and connections to related work orders

General Board Management
- Reload the Board: Refresh the board to display the latest data.

Managing Objects and Groups

Search
Use the Search tab to find specific records. Selecting a record highlights it on the board. Search is available for: - Assets - Work Orders - Downtimes - Asset Transfers - Production Order Routing
Managing Maintenance on the Board
Assets
- Assets are shown on the left, organized in groups or as a list.
- Asset symbols indicate status (critical, virtual, tool, inactive, warranty, blocked, in-transit).
- Right-click an asset to open the card, create work orders, or register downtime.
Work Orders
- Work Orders and Simulations are shown as blocks; simulations use lighter colors.
- Work Order blocks can be moved horizontally (between dates) but not vertically (between assets), unless Advanced Planning is on.
- Blocks on groups have distinct shapes and colors; double-clicking highlights the original block.
- Right-click to open/edit Work Order or Asset Card.
Asset Downtimes
- Downtimes and Simulations are shown as blocks; simulations use lighter colors.
- Downtime blocks can be moved horizontally (between dates) if open; blocks on groups have faded colors.
- Visual connections between downtimes and work orders can be enabled in User Setup.
- Right-click to open/edit Downtime or Asset Card.
Asset Transfers
- Transfers are represented by shipping and receipt blocks with arrows.
- Blocks can be moved horizontally if not shipped; blocks on groups only when assets are grouped by location.
- Right-click to open/edit Asset Transfer or Asset Card.
Maintenance Logs
- Represented by blue star symbols; cannot be moved.
- Show changes in Asset Status, Location, and Condition.
Production Orders
- Shown as blocks for planned, firm planned, released, or simulated orders (requires Dynaway Manufacturing).
- Blocks cannot be moved; can be shown on groups with lighter colors.
- Right-click to open Production Order, Manufacturing Center, or Asset Card.
