Accessing the Resource Scheduling Board

To open the Resource Scheduling Board: 1. Navigate to the Dynaway EAM menu in Business Central. 2. Select Resource Scheduling Board from the available options. 3. The board displays a timeline view of resources and their assigned work orders.

Configuration Steps

Follow these steps to configure the Resource Scheduling Board for your organization:

1. Define Resources

  • Go to Resources in Dynaway EAM.
  • Create or update resource records for technicians, teams, or equipment.
  • Specify resource types, skills, and availability.

2. Set Up Work Order Types

  • Navigate to Work Order Types.
  • Define types of work orders that will be scheduled (e.g., preventive, corrective, inspection).

This article explains how individual users can configure their personal settings for the Resource Scheduling Board (RSB) in Dynaway EAM for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. User-specific setup ensures that each user’s preferences are automatically applied when opening the board, streamlining daily planning and scheduling activities.

Overview

Each user can personalize their RSB experience by adjusting filters, display options, grouping, visible objects, and color schemes. These settings are saved and applied automatically, but can be changed at any time.

Accessing User Setup

  • Open the Resource Scheduling Board.
  • Use the toolbar to access user-specific actions and settings.

Toolbar Actions

  • User Filters: Opens a list of all saved filters created by the user for RSB.
  • Remove Default Filter: Removes the default filter applied to the user setup.

Note: Some fields may be hidden by default (e.g., Show Lines Caption Boolean).

Many options in the user setup can also be changed directly from the board using dedicated toolbar actions, so you do not need to open the user setup every time.

General Tab

Basic board setup options include:

Resources and Contractors Tab

Configure how resources and contractors are displayed and grouped:

Field Description
Group by Organizes resources/contractors by None, Group, Responsibility Center, or Work Type
Show Defines what is visible: Resources and Contractors, Resources only, or Contractors only

If a group (resource or contractor) is not shown, it will not be created on the board, even if selected in setup.

Visible Objects Tab

Choose which blocks are shown on the board: - Resource Work Orders - Resource Round Orders - Contractor Work Orders - Maintenance Tasks - Resource Maintenance Absences - Resource Orders Simulations - Resource Rounds Simulations - Maintenance Tasks Simulations

Objects Tab

Configure how objects are highlighted and arranged:

Field Description
Highlight Which blocks are highlighted (All, Same Source, Overdue)
Compress Objects Reduces objects to one line only
Orders Arrangement Shows orders for the same day next to each other (when advanced planning is off)
Show Unscheduled Shows unscheduled objects (without assigned resource/contractor)

Unscheduled objects are grouped differently depending on the selected grouping option (None, Group, Work Type, Responsibility Center).

Colors Tab

Set up color schemes for resources, orders, tasks, vendors, and contractors:

Order Color By Source of color for order objects (work orders, round orders, simulations)
Maintenance Task Color for maintenance task objects
Vendor Color Color for vendor groups
Contractor Work Color for contractor work objects

Advanced Status and Resource Line Status Colors

  • To color by Work Order Advanced Status: Set 'Order Color By' to Work Order Advanced Status, then select colors in Advanced Maintenance Statuses.
  • To color by Resource Line Status: Enable the field by personalization in the Resource tab on the Work Order Card, set 'Order Color By' to Resource Line Status, and configure colors in Scheduling Board Setup > Work Order Statuses > Resource Line Status.

To edit resource line status, right-click a work order and select Edit Work Order. Enable the Resource Line tab via personalization.
