Additional Parameters on Work Orders

Introduction

The Asset Status and Condition fields under the Additional Parameters tab on the Work Order Plan page allow you to track and manage changes to an asset’s operational state and condition throughout the maintenance process. These fields help ensure accurate documentation of asset transitions, support communication between maintenance and operations, and provide valuable data for asset lifecycle management.

Use these fields to:

  • Indicate the asset’s temporary status during maintenance
  • Record the asset’s new condition after work completion
  • Update the asset’s operational status post-maintenance

Fields

Asset Status During Work Order

  • Specifies the temporary status of the asset while the work order is in progress.
  • Useful for indicating that the asset is under maintenance, out of service, or in a restricted state during work execution.
  • Helps communicate asset availability to operations and maintenance teams.

New Asset Condition Code

  • Sets the updated condition code for the asset after the work order is completed.
  • Used to record changes in asset health, such as 'Good', 'Needs Repair', or 'Replaced'.
  • Supports asset lifecycle management and reporting.

New Asset Status Code

  • Assigns a new status code to the asset upon completion of the work order.
  • Can be used to indicate that the asset is back in service, retired, or in another operational state.
  • Ensures accurate tracking of asset status changes resulting from maintenance activities.

These fields help manage and document asset status and condition transitions throughout the maintenance process in Dynaway EAM for Business Central.

Asset Replacement

Replace assets in your company easily using the Asset Replacement functionality. If an asset requires a replacement, you can create a Replacement Work Order from a Work Order Plan. The Asset replacement in EAM-BC is done after closing the Replacement Work Order after the physical replacement has been handled.

On the Work Order and Plan card, the Replacing Asset section is visible only when the used Work Order Category is specified as Asset Replacement (value in the Category Type field on the Work Order Category card).

On the Work Order Plan (and Work Order) you can define Replacing Asset in the Asset Parameters tab.

You can define:

  • Asset No. - the Asset No. after replacement.
  • New Asset Parent No. - by default, it will be the same Asset No. as Parent on the Current Asset (to place the new asset in the correct place in the hierarchy).
  • New Asset Status - this is the asset status that will be set on the Asset.
  • Change Asset Status Code on Child Assets - toggle the button if the new status should be assigned to all Asset Children.
  • New Asset Condition Code - this is an asset condition that will be set on the Asset.
  • Mount Counters - when toggled to 'on' the counters assigned to the current assets will be assigned to the new asset with the last reading. This works only if the Dismount Counters is on.

Check if an asset is during replacement

On the Asset Card there are hidden fields showing if the asset is during replacement, the asset number which the current asset will be replaced to, and the Work Order Number related to the asset replacement. These fields are only filled with values when the Work Order has a value in the Replacing Asset > Asset No. field.

View asset replacement consumption

When the whole replacement is done, and the Work Order is posted and closed, you will be able to see that consumption was done because of the asset replacement.

On Work Order Ledger Entries you can see two fields:

  • Asset Replacement - specifies if the work order ledger entries are related to asset replacement.
  • Replacement Asset No. - shows the asset number to which Asset No. has been replaced.

On Posted Work Orders, there are fields related to Asset Replacement Parameters. The values are copied from the Work Order during closing. Fields are only shown if the Work Order Category is marked as Asset Replacement.
