Introduction
A follow-up work order is created when further actions, repairs, or inspections are required after completing a maintenance task. This ensures that all issues are tracked and resolved, supporting continuous asset reliability and compliance.
- Additional repairs or inspections are identified during maintenance
- Issues found that cannot be resolved within the original work order
- Preventive actions or recommendations need to be scheduled
- Open the completed or active work order that requires follow-up.
- Select the Create Follow-Up Work Order action (usually available on the work order card or actions menu).
- The system creates a new work order, linking it to the original as a follow-up.
- Review and edit the follow-up work order details:
- Update description, priority, and scheduling as needed
- Add required items, resources, and tasks
- Link to the original work order for traceability
- Save and release the follow-up work order for execution.
Key Features
- Automatic Linking: The follow-up work order is linked to the original, providing traceability and reporting.
- Customizable Details: You can edit all fields in the follow-up work order to match the required actions.
- History Tracking: Both the original and follow-up work orders maintain a history of related maintenance activities.
- Reporting: Use filters and reports to track open, completed, and related follow-up work orders.
[!NOTE] There are fields (hidden by default) on the work order page where you can view the number of follow-up work orders that have been created:
- Follow Up Orders
- Follow Up Order to
You can personalize the page to display these fields for better tracking and reporting of follow-up activities.
When working with round orders (work orders that cover multiple assets or locations), you can create follow-up work orders separately for each asset:
- After completing a round order, review each asset or location for additional maintenance needs.
- Use the Create Follow-Up Work Order action to generate a new follow-up work order for a specific asset within the round order.
- Each follow-up work order is linked to the original round order and the relevant asset, ensuring clear traceability and targeted maintenance.
- This approach allows you to address unique issues for each asset, improving maintenance accuracy and asset reliability.
[!TIP] Use separate follow-up work orders for each asset in a round order to ensure all identified issues are tracked and resolved individually.
