Work Order Plan

Introduction

A Work Order Plan in Dynaway EAM for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a template for creating Work Orders for a specific asset. Work Order Plans are used for both preventive and reactive maintenance, based on a predefined time frame (calendar), counter readings (e.g., running hours), or measurement values. Each plan is linked to a single asset and can only have one open Work Order at a time. You can copy a Work Order Plan to use it for other assets.

Examples:

  • Weekly inspections (calendar-based)
  • Maintenance after 5,000 running hours (counter-based)

Key Concepts

  • Single Asset: Each Work Order Plan is linked to one asset.
  • One Open Work Order: Only one open Work Order can exist per plan at a time for the non-iteration Work Order Plans.
  • Multiple Work Orders: Multiple Work Orders can be created per plan according to the Iterations.
  • Copying Plans: Plans can be copied to other assets for similar maintenance needs.
  • Grouping: Multiple plans can be grouped for batch updates and synchronization.

How to Create a Work Order Plan

You can create a new Work Order Plan from your role center in several ways:

  • In the Actions section, select Work Order Plan
  • Go to Work Orders > Work Order Plans > New
  • Select a Work Order Plan tile and choose New

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Description: Select a standard description from the list or enter your own. (Standard descriptions can be edited.)
  2. Asset No.: Select the asset for which the plan is created. Only one asset can be linked to a plan.
    • Tip: To see Asset Parent No. and Asset Parent Description, personalize the page to add these fields.
  3. Category Code: Select a Work Order Category. Categories may include frequencies, items, and resources, which are automatically transferred to the plan.
  4. Priority Code: Select a priority for the Work Order. This may be filled automatically if set on the selected category.
  5. Risk Assessment No. (if using Dynaway Safe Work): Select a Risk Assessment to transfer hazards and precautions to Work Orders created from this plan.
    • Use Related > Active Risks to view all hazards and precautions included from related Risk Assessments.
  6. Instructions: Enter instructions and notes for completing Work Orders created from this plan. Use the Edit action in the Instructions group for multiline instructions.
  7. Latest Finish Date Calculation: Specify the number of days in which the Work Order should be completed after the planned date. If left blank, the Latest Finish Date will match the Original Planned Date.
  8. Asset Status During WO: Optionally specify the asset's status when the Work Order starts.
  9. Fill the Frequency, Resources, Items, Expenses (if used on Plans).
  10. Release the document at the end.
