Overview

This documenation describes how to use the Dynaway Mobile Client developed for Enterprise Asset management on Microsoft Dynamics® 365 for Finance and Operations (D365FO). The main focus on the Mobile Client is work orders and objects.

Work orders are the jobs that maintenance workers are working on to ensure that production equipment and other types of technical equipment and machinery are running continuously to avoid production downtime and broken equipment.

Objects are the pieces of equipment and machinery that you create work orders for whenever maintenance or repair jobs are required.

Apart from Work Orders and Objects, we have developed additional modules to help you optimize the mobile maintenance management workflow in your company:

  • Planning board
  • Requests
  • Offline objects
  • Offline inventory

Settings

In Settings, you find general information about the Mobile Client and the Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations backend. Generally, the Settings screen isn't meant for workers making registrations, but a supervisor or a system administrator may work with tasks related to Settings. However, workers may use Settings to read messages they receive on the Mobile Client when they work on work orders. Below is an explanation of the information and actions available in Settings.

On the Mobile Client home page, select the cog wheel button to open Settings.

  • The Language selected on the Mobile Client is defined by the language selected for the worker in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations > Settings (cogwheel button) > User options > Preferences > Language and country/region preferences.

Note

If you change the language on the Mobile Client, the language will not be changed for the worker in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, and it is reset to the language specified in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations the next time you log in on the Mobile Client.

  • In the Company section, you see the company account related to you in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. If required, you can select another company account.

Note

If you select another company account than the one set up for you in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, the Mobile Client automatically returns to your standard account when you log out.

  • Select the Synchronize button to submit data to Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations right away and request data from Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations at the same time.

Note

The Manual synchronization toggle button should always be deactivated during everyday use of the Mobile Client. You should only activate it (showing blue color) for testing purposes.

  • Select the Delete data button to clear the local database on the Mobile Client and get the latest updates from Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.

Note

This action is only used in special cases, for example, if corrupted data occurred in the database. Data, which haven't been synchronized (uncommitted data) with Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, will be lost when you clear the local database.

  • In the Messages section, Client messages and Synchronization messages that appear when you work on the Mobile Client are shown.
    • If a worker makes registrations or adds attachments on the Mobile Client and synchronization to Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations fails, a number is shown on the main menu button on the Mobile Client. The number indicates number of unread messages. You can read the error messages in three ways:
      • A message is shown on the Mobile Client together with the number on the main menu button. Select the Messages link to read the messages.
      • Select the main menu button. In the main menu, a link to open the messages is shown.
      • Select the main menu button > Settings button. Read the messages in the Messages section.
  • The System section contains read-only information related to the Mobile Client setup.
