Automatic Period Amount Calculation
- New "Calculate Period Amount from Types" checkbox on maintenance contract header
- New "Period Amount" field on contracted type lines (Asset, Asset Location, Work Order Plan, etc.)
- Automatic duplicate prevention for contracted type lines
- Real-time Annual Amount updates based on Period Charge frequency
How It Works
When Auto-Calculation Is ENABLED:
Check "Calculate Period Amount from Types" on the contract header (Status must be "Open")
The header Period Amount field becomes read-only and grayed out
Enter Period Amount on individual contracted type lines
Header Period Amount automatically equals the sum of all line Period Amounts
Adding, modifying, or deleting lines instantly updates the header total
Annual Amount recalculates automatically (×12 for Monthly, ×1 for Yearly)
Example:
- Line 1: Asset A - Period Amount: 500
- Line 2: Location B - Period Amount: 300
- Header Period Amount automatically shows: 800
How It Does NOT Work
When Auto-Calculation Is DISABLED:
Uncheck "Calculate Period Amount from Types"
Header Period Amount field becomes editable and resets to 0
Enter Period Amount manually on the header
Line Period Amounts are stored but ignored - they do NOT affect the header
You can still enter amounts on lines, but they won't sum to the header
Important Limitations:
- ❌ Cannot manually edit header Period Amount when auto-calculation is enabled
- ❌ Cannot edit amounts when contract Status is not "Open"
- ❌ Cannot create duplicate lines (same Type, No., and Work Order Category)
- ❌ Work Order Category only works with Asset or Asset Location types
- ❌ Negative amounts not allowed
Key Point: Line Period Amounts only impact the header when "Calculate Period Amount from Types" is checked. Otherwise, they're just stored values.
Quick Start
To Use Auto-Calculation:
Open contract → Check "Calculate Period Amount from Types"
Add contracted type lines with Period Amounts
Watch header total update automatically
To Use Manual Entry:
Open contract → Uncheck "Calculate Period Amount from Types"
Enter Period Amount directly on header
Line amounts are ignored (but preserved for later)
