Linked maintenance jobs are automatically created when a work order line that uses the maintenance job type default is created.
You have the possibility to add linked maintenance job type setup to a maintenance job type default. This means that when a work order is created which uses the maintenance job type default, any linked jobs are automatically created.
To enable this functionality, go to System administration > Setup > License configuration.
Work order lines created for linked maintenance jobs are created for the same asset as the original work order line that triggered their creation.
The type of asset which the linked maintenance job is created for is also considered along with the job type association. This means that when a maintenance job type, for instance 'Inspection', is selected for a specific asset type, then this work order line will be created. If you have not selected a maintenance job type, for instance 'Calibration' in the screenshot below, on the specific asset type, you will be informed that the maintenance job type is lacking setup.
Note: automatically created work order lines do not trigger automatic linked job creation.
