View and Calculate Maintenance Strategies

Get an overview of your assets' maintenance strategies based on your current setup, and compare them from the total number of corrective and preventive work orders of an asset.

To ensure that a maintenance strategy is calculated correctly, 'Use functional location hierarchy' must be disabled.

Go to Asset management > Inquiries > Assets > Maintenance strategy. From the form, you can see the if an asset has one of the following four available strategies:

  • Run to failure
    • This strategy is set if setup has not been made for preventive, predicitve, or reactive.
  • Preventive maintenance
    • This strategy is set if the asset or its functional location has active maintenance rounds, or maintenance plans with line type 'Time'.
  • Predictive maintenance
    • This strategy is set if the asset or its functional location has active maintenance plans with line type 'Counter', and Interval Type with the exception of:
      • Once reached above
      • Once reached below
      • Repeated on aggregated value (Counter only)
      • Once on aggregated value (Counter only)
  • Reactive maintenance
    • This strategy is set if the asset or its functional location has active maintenance plans with line type 'Counter' and Interval Type:
      • Once reached above
      • Once reached below
      • Repeated on aggregated value (Counter only)
      • Once on aggregated value (Counter only)

Calculate Maintenance Strategy

A maintenance strategy is calculated based on your current setup. You can create as many as you want to for instance compare calculations from different dates, or you can set up calculations to run automatically in the background.

  1. On the maintenance strategy overview, go to 'Calculate' in the upper left corner.
  2. Make a description for your calculation.
  3. Optional: choose 'Run in the background' if you need to set up automated maintenance strategies to be calculated.
  4. Click OK to complete. You will now see your calculation on the left side showing the time and date of the calculation and the description.
  5. If you want to delete a calculation, go to the calculation you want to delete and then click the 'Delete' button in the upper left corner.

View and Compare Calculations

On the Maintenance strategy overview, there is a list on the left where you can choose between viewing different calculations.

  • When choosing a calculation, you can view number of assets that have changed their maintenance strategy since last calculation, which can be seen in the 'Updated assets' field shown on the screenshot below.
  • From the 'Updated asset' column in the grid, a tick is shown if an asset's maintenance strategy has changed since last calculation.

If you want to view only the assets that have been updated, select the 'Updated asset' filter just above the grid.

By opening 'Related information' from the right, you can view the previous calculation for the asset in the Previous strategy results tab. In the example below, the selected asset was updated to 'updated asset' in the second calculation, as its current maintenance strategy is preventive maintenance and the previous one was run to failure.
