Interval Type

Use interval types on maintenance sequences

Introduction

Using the two maintenance sequence interval types Once on aggregated value and Repeated on aggregated value you can achieve a heightened level of flexibility and precision in your maintenance workflows.

Once on Aggregated Value

When running the maintenance sequence, a scheduled maintenance line is generated whenever the cumulative value of an object counter reaches the specified period frequency defined on the maintenance sequence line.

Note: the 'Once on Aggregated Value' interval type is only compatible with maintenance sequence line types identified as Counter.

  • Ensure that the maintenance sequence line type is set to 'Counter' to utilize the 'Once on Aggregated Value' interval type effectively.
  • The related counter must have its aggregate option set to 'Sum'. This configuration is essential for accurate tracking and triggering of maintenance based on the aggregated value.
  • Changing the total aggregate on a counter used on a maintenance sequence will result in an error.

Example

You know you need to carry out maintenance on a machine after it has run for a certain amount of hours. You then set up a counter for object VE0025 and create a maintenance sequence line for the same object. The interval type specified for this line is Once on aggregated value (Counter only), with a designated period frequency of 750. Upon running the maintenance sequence, a scheduled maintenance line will be generated when the cumulative value of the counter surpasses 750 hours.

Repeated on Aggregated Value

When running the maintenance sequence, a scheduled maintenance line is generated whenever the cumulative value of an object counter reaches the specified period frequency or multiple period frequencies. (The period frequency is defined on the maintenance sequence line.)

Note: the 'Repeated on Aggregated Value' interval type is only compatible with maintenance sequence line types identified as Counter.

  • Ensure that the maintenance sequence line type is set to 'Counter' to utilize the 'Repeated on Aggregated Value' interval type.

You then set up a counter for object VE0024 and create a maintenance sequence line for the same object. The interval type specified for this line is Repeated on aggregated value (Counter only), with a designated period frequency of 500. Upon running the maintenance sequence, a scheduled maintenance line will be generated when the accumulated value of the counter surpasses 500 hours. Subsequently, another scheduled maintenance line will be created when the accumulated counter value exceeds 1,000 hours, and this pattern will persist for each additional increment of 500 hours.
