Reset Counter

Set up counters to be reset automatically

Introduction

Counter registrations can be reset automatically. This is ideal when you have an object that needs service after reaching a specific level on a counter, such as a number of miles/kilometers, and you want to ensure that service is being done on time.

Overview

It's possible to set up a maintence sequence that can reset associated counter registrations. Let's look at an example where you have a maintenance sequence where you want service work done for every 4000 kilometers. After the work is completed, you want an automatic deletion of counter registrations for counters of the type 'Kilometers' so the worker doesn't have to delete them manually.

As an EAM Maintenance manager you should consider, while updating the maintenance sequence, whether created work orders should delete related counters registrations. This can be done by checking the Reset counter checkbox on the maintenance sequence.

Setup

When setting up Reset counter, you need to go to your maintenance sequence where you want the counters to be reset.

  1. Go to Enterprise Asset Management > Setup > Preventive maintenance > Maintenance sequences.
  2. On the maintenance sequence line, go to Reset counter and check the checkbox.

As an EAM Maintenance manager, you need to decide on which stage the counter reset should be processed. To do this go to:

  1. Enterprise Asset Management > Setup > Work orders > Stage > Stages.
  2. Choose the stage where the counter needs to be reset when switch to and go to:
  3. General > Reset counter and put the togglebutton to Yes.

Reset Counter Registrations

When a work order is moved to the stage on which the maintenance manager decides that object counters should be reset, then all counter registrations of the type selected on maintenance sequence which counter registration date is set before actual end of work order, will be deleted. If the work order has no actual end date, then today's date will be taken to reset counter registrations.

If a maintenance sequence line with a checked 'Reset counter' checkbox is scheduled, all created work order lines with reference to that maintenance sequence line will automatically have the 'Reset counter' checkbox set on.
