Validate Counter Value

Counter value validation checks for maximum and minimum values for a defined period of time

Introduction

Counter value validation ensures that your object tracking remains accurate and aligned with predefined limits. You can define the time period for which you want to set the minimum and maximum values for, create minimum and maximum values, and define the type of notification you want to see when validation fails.

Validate Counter Values

Setup fields

The setup fields for the 'Validate counter values' functionality listed below are available in Enterprise asset management > Setup > Objects > Object types > Counters.

  • Period - Define the period for which you want to set the maximum and minimum values for counter registration.
  • Max value - Specify the maximum value that can be registered for the counter during the defined period.
  • Min value - Specify the minimum value that can be registered for the counter during the defined period.
  • Type - Choose the type of notification that should be raised when validation fails.

Validation process

The validation process involves checking the previous counter registration for the same counter and object. Here's how it works:

  • If there is no previous registration, the validation always succeeds.
  • If a previous counter registration exists, the system calculates the time elapsed since the last registration based on the defined period (days/weeks/quarters/years).
  • It then checks whether the registration value exceeds the minimum or maximum values set for the period.
