Settings in the Mobile Client

In Settings, you find general information about the Mobile Client and the Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations backend. Generally, the Settings screen isn't meant for workers making registrations, but a supervisor or a system administrator may work with tasks related to Settings. However, workers may use Settings to read messages they receive on the Mobile Client when they work on work orders. Below is an explanation of the information and actions available in Settings.

  1. Select the cog wheel button on the Mobile Client home page to open Settings.
    • The Language selected on the Mobile Client is defined by the chosen language for the worker in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations > Settings (cogwheel button) > User options > Preferences > Language and country/region preferences.
    • If you change the language on the Mobile Client, the language will not be changed for the worker in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. It will be reset to the language specified in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations the next time you log in on the Mobile Client.
    • Product and item names are shown in the language you have selected. This is valid for:
      • item registrations
      • item forecasts
      • asset spare parts
      • asset BOM
  2. In the Company section, you see the company account related to you in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. If required, you can select another company account.
    • If you select another company account than the one set up for you in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, the Mobile Client automatically returns to your standard account when you log out.
  3. Select the Synchronize button to submit data to Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations immediately and request data from Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations simultaneously.
    • The Manual synchronization toggle button should permanently be deactivated during everyday use of the Mobile Client. You should only activate it (showing blue colour) for testing purposes.
  4. Select the Delete data button to clear the local database on the Mobile Client and get the latest updates from Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.
    • This action is only used in exceptional cases, for example, if corrupted data occurs in the database. Data, which haven't been synchronized (uncommitted data) with Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, will be lost when you clear the local database.
  5. The System section contains information related to the Mobile Client setup and the option to turn on/off the 'Dark mode' function using the toggle button.
  6. The Network section contains information about your connection status and allows switching to Offline mode. Working in Offline mode can be helpful if you're experiencing poor network connection and want to work uninterrupted. Turning off the Offline mode can be done in Settings or directly from the message at the top of the page. Refer to the screenshot below.
    • With the Offline mode on, you cannot synchronize data.
    • If you are synchronizing data while turning on the Offline mode, you will get a warning that all data may not be available until the synchronization has finished. Once you turn off the Offline mode, any unfinished synchronization will proceed.
    • Offline mode is displayed in orange, and when you are offline due to no network connection, it's shown in grey. Refer to the screenshots below.

Messages in the Mobile Client

'Click the backdrop to dismiss early'

If you try to download a work order, you can see a message that says 'Downloading WO-000317... Click the backdrop to dismiss early' as seen in the screenshot below. This means that you can click the background around the message to stop the download from taking place. If you click the background to dismiss the download after a while, the work order may still have been downloaded.

Overview of Terminology

Below you can find an overview of terminology used in the documentation for Mobile AM.

In the documentation for Mobile AM, you will sometimes find words to be separated by a slash (/) followed by another term. An example could be 'asset/object'. For Mobile AM, the first term before the slash always refers to the term you see in D365 and in the mobile client as well.
