6. Update

Basic setup for Dynaway mobile

Introduction

The process of updating Dynaway Mobile is similar to the methods used for installing Dynaway Mobile into an existing environment, as described in other articles:

  1. Get the latest version of the Dynaway AM solution and Mobile web app from LCS (screenshot #1)
Update Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O models first:
Apply or schedule the deployment of the Dynaway AM packages suited for your Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations application version.
  2. Verify the license is up to date.
  3. Download the last version of the Dynaway mobile app package:
LCS -> Asset Library -> Solution package (screenshot #2)

After the update process, carry out the following tasks:

The major and minor versions of the mobile client and the Dynaway AM package must be the same, i.e. version 2401.1.* matches only with 2401.1.* and 2404.1.* matches only with 2404.1.*

  1. Verify web.config file (screenshot)
  2. Upload the files to the FTP server (screenshot).
Copy values stored in the old file, located on the FTP Server, to the new web.config file.
Planning board app files to /plan
Work Execution app files to /work directory on FTP
Safe Work to /safe (if the license requires Maintenance Requester functionality)
  3. Go to (screenshot #3):
    - Dynaway mobile > Mobile parameters > change tracking > Click Enable/disable button to enable it
    - Dynaway mobile > Setup > Handler setup open and close
    - Dynaway mobile > Setup > Entity setup, select new entities in the list and select the Enable button.
  4. Review Module configuration.
    1. Dynaway mobile > Setup > Module configuration > paste URLs from Azure app registration for /plan and /work (screenshot)
    2. Dynaway mobile > Setup > Module configuration > Planning Board > Enable
      Add user (screenshot)
  5. Run entity initialization (Dynaway mobile > Periodic > Entity initialization) to ensure any changes to data entities for the Mobile Client are updated.
