Basic setup for Dynaway mobile

Introduction

Updating Dynaway Mobile is similar to the methods used for installing Dynaway Mobile into an existing environment, as described in other articles.
The manual focuses on updating Dynaway mobile applications.

  1. Get the latest version of the Dynaway AM solution and Mobile web app from LCS (screenshot 1)
First, update Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O models
by Applying or scheduling the deployment of the Dynaway AM packages suited to your Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations application version.
  2. Verify the license is up to date.

The major and minor versions of the mobile client and the Dynaway models must be the same, i.e.: 2404.1.* matches only with 2404.1.* and 2407.1.* matches only with 2407.1.*
  3. Download the last version of the Dynaway mobile app package:
LCS -> Asset Library -> Solution package (screenshot 2)
The mobile package is stored with the Release note document.

Dynaway mobile application update steps:

  1. Open the web.config file (screenshot 3) in the downloaded Dynaway mobile package and paste values from the old web.config file for all Dynaway mobile applications.
  2. Upload the files to the FTP server (screenshot 4).
Overwrite all files from the new package (including the updated web.config file) to the FTP Server.
Planning board app files to /plan directory
Work Execution app files to /work directory
Safe Work to /safe (if the Safe Work app is licensed)
  3. Go to Dynamics 365 environment (screenshot 5):
    1. Dynaway mobile > Mobile parameters > Change tracking > check "Change tracking" status. If disabled -> enable it.
    2. Review Module configuration
Dynaway mobile > Setup > Module configuration > Make sure all Dynaway mobile app URLs are set for the target Dynamics 365 environment.
    3. Go to Dynaway mobile > Setup > Entity setup, select all entities, and Enable them. Attention! Some entities can be disabled in a custom setup.
    4. Run the cleanup job after the update Dynaway mobile > Periodic > Mobile framework cleanup jobs
  4. Run entity initialization (Dynaway mobile > Periodic > Entity initialization) to ensure any changes to data entities for the Mobile Client are updated. The initialization process must run on the user interactive session (no batch job). When ended:
  5. Go to
Dynaway mobile > Mobile parameters > change tracking > verify the ended date. If the field stays empty, the process is ongoing.
