Create Work Order

Improvements when working with manual creation of work orders

Introduction

Improvements to the manual creation of work orders include Fault fields on work order and Maintenance job notes on work orders.

Mandatory Fault Fields on Manual Work Order Creation

When having to create a work order manually due to a faulty asset, you can specify the 'fault symptom', 'fault area', and 'fault type' to get better quality of data as to how the asset is defective. Fault fields can also be specified when creating related work orders.

Setup

  1. Before you can use the functionality, you need to have created one or more faults: fault symptoms, fault areas, fault types.
    • Read more about fault management and how to set up faults in the Microsoft Asset management documentation here.
  2. Go to Feature management to enable the feature 'Dynaway - Mandatory fault fields on work order creation dialog'.

Use fault fields when creating a work order

After enabling the feature, you can see the mandatory 'Fault symptom', 'Fault area' and 'Fault type' fields in the 'Create work order' dialog as well as the 'Create related work order' dialog. See screenshot 01 and 02.

You can then use the mandatory fault fields 'Fault symptom', 'Fault area' and 'Fault type' when you're manually creating work orders and related work orders.

Note:

Specific fault fields become enabled and mandatory to fill when two conditions are met at the same time:

  1. When creating a new standalone work order:
    • Selected work order type has the mandatory fault symptom parameter checked.
    • Selected asset has an asset type for which the proper fault setup has been configured.
  2. When creating a new related work order:
    • Selected work order type has the mandatory fault symptom parameter checked.
    • The asset from the selected work order job has an asset type for which the proper fault setup has been configured.
  3. When adding a job to an existing related work order:
    • Selected existing related work order has a work order type with the mandatory fault symptom parameter checked.
    • The asset from the selected work order job has an asset type for which the proper fault setup has been configured.

Maintenance Job Note on Manual Work Order Creation

This feature allows you to use a maintenance job description when manually creating work orders and related work orders.

Setup

Go to Feature management and enable the feature 'Dynaway - Maintenance job description on work order creation dialog'.

Use the maintenance job notes when creating a work order

After enabling the feature, you can see the 'Work order maintenance job notes' field in the 'Create work order' dialog as well as the 'Create related work order' dialog. See screenshot 01 and 02. You can provide any useful note/description in the 'Work order maintenance job notes' field.
